I Just Booked My Next International Trip

Well, it’s finally happening. I’m heading abroad… again!

My partner of three years, Tavis, and I just booked our flights to somewhere we’ve wanted to go for awhile now. I’ll give you a few hints: it’s known for being a cold, isolated place; colourful displays of the northern lights; and steaming, blue-water hot springs.

You guessed it! We’re going to Iceland.

Beyond our flights, a campervan rental and a dog-eared Lonely Planet guidebook, we don’t have much of an idea of what our trip will look like. We’re not going until 2023, so we have time to plan. Still, I’m searching for advice and recommendations!

It’ll be a big trip for Tavis and me: our first international adventure. Most of our relationship has transpired during a worldwide pandemic; we spent an amazing three days in Banff this September, but 10 days driving the Ring Road in Iceland is going to be a bit different.

No matter what happens, I’m so excited. To me, Iceland looks like a different planet. I feel like I booked a ticket to the moon! When we get there, the country will experience nearly endless daylight. Despite the likelihood of cold, rainy weather, I’ll be hoping for sunshine. Honestly, I can’t even imagine what our trip will be like. But I prefer to travel with no expectations so that I’ll be extra impressed.
